Roof Finish Options including Tiled Roofs

A slate, clay or ceder shingle tiled roof are alternative roof coverings to match existing buildings in the locality. We can adapt any of our timber buildings accordingly. A tiled roof changes the way a building is constructed; wall panels require upgrading, flitch beams need to be fitted above windows and doorways etc. In addition specialist roof trusses need to be fitted to comply with building regulations. And it’s all dependent on your choice of pitch and tile. By working with you and understanding your needs, Chart Stables can design the right roof for your unique situation.

Buildings with a tiled roof require an upgraded specification and include the following:

  • Specialist roof trusses
  • 100mm x 50mm (4” x 2”) timber framing
  • Fully treated timber
  • Diagonal bracing to all external walls
  • Lining paper to wall construction
  • 400mm (16”) studwork in wall construction
  • Flitch beams over door and windows

Or alternatively, you could you could opt for an Onduline or felt tiled roof, in which case our standard building specification applies.

 


Clay Tiles
Clay tiles are either machine made or hand made. You could also choose reclaimed if your surroundings require it. - Clay and Slate tiles are available. This does however, significantly alter the way the building is manufactured and will require specialist trusses.

Slate Tiles
Slate tile options, like clay tiles include both machine and hand made. - Clay and Slate tiles are available. This does however, significantly alter the way the building is manufactured and will require specialist trusses.

Cedar Shingles
Cedar shingles can be used as an alternative to conventional tiles.

Felt Tiles
Felt tiles are durable and are available in a choice of colours. These can be accepted as a replacement material for clay tiles by local authorities.

Onduline
Onduline is a tried and tested roofing material which is used by the majority of stable manufacturers. Black is standard, red, brown and green are also available.
