Should you order your Mobile Field Shelter with Timber or Metal Skids?

A frequently asked question is: Are Mobile Field Shelters and Mobile Stables better with metal or timber skids?

There is no correct answer as this is down to personal preference.

In most cases our Mobile Field Shelters metal skids are made from 100mm x 100mm box profile steel which is 4mm thick. Once the steel is scratched it will start to rust. Due to the cost of steel Mobile Field Shelters and Mobile Stables fitted with metal skids are more expensive than those fitted with timber skids.

The timber skids fitted to Mobile Field Shelters and Mobile Stables are fully pressure treated, each one is constructed using a single length of timber and have a life span of some 20+ years, they measure 150mm x 75mm, giving 50% more ground coverage and are, therefore, far less likely to sink in wet conditions.

So, are Mobile Field Shelters and Mobile Stables fitted with metal skids worth the extra money?

... Probably not if you are trying to keep to a tight budget!
