One of the most exciting things about building a new stable block, or expanding an existing one, is choosing a design layout. What influences your decision on a preferred design could be the amount of land you have to work with, the number of animals you own, and of course, your budget. At Chart, we can custom design any stable block layout that your budget, want or need accounts for. Whether its a small two stable layout, or a large 20+ unit site, we have the experience and know-how to do it. We’ll even help advise you on getting planning permission and any foundation work that might be required.
However, if you are looking for inspiration on stable block layouts, there are a number of designs that we work with regularly that you might want to consider.
L Block Design
Especially suited to a corner location or where space is a premium, L-shaped stable blocks are very popular with our customers. It is a practical and attractive layout that can provide extra protection from the elements and allows easy viewing and access to all areas of the stable block. Either length extension of the block can have extra units added to it over time to make a comprehensive structure that includes stables, tack rooms and hays stores.
U Block Design
A U-shaped stable block allows for easier management of horses and staff, so is particularly well-suited to larger working yards where efficiency is key. For a U block to work, there needs to be plenty of land space to lay foundations, but what you will be left with is excellent shelter from the elements and a nice social atmosphere for the animals. With a U-shaped stable block you can even close off the open side and create a prestigious stable entrance that offers a secure and professional finish to your yard.
E Block Design
E-shaped stable blocks are ideal for commercial yards which require distinct separated areas, but still require shared facilities in a central location. For example, you can create partitions for stables, tack rooms and hay stores, but then also build in workshops, offices and even accommodation within another part of the overall structure. If you own multiple horses and want to house them on your own land with other facilities like a garage or home office, an E-shaped stable block may be suitable for you.
All In A Line Block Design
A very simple design layout that is useful if you need to house multiple animals and have plenty of land to work with. Away from complex layout options, this option is ideally suited to small private yards, and due to the limited alterations need, is often the most cost-effective option.
The options don’t stop here however. There are multiple stable block layouts that you can choose to work with and Chart can build them for you. Download a brochure today or call 0800 085 2937 for more information.
